The way I work as a Supervisor is firmly rooted in the Person Centred Approach and I endeavour to provide a safe place where you can explore all aspects of your client work, your difficulties as well as your successes. I will endeavour to offer an environment which supports, encourages and challenges you, and allows you to develop both personally and professionally. My aim is to facilitate you in finding your own way forward in your work with your clients.
I enjoy my supervision work and find it stimulating and challenging. In my own supervision I have found being able to explore my counselling work in a safe, supportive and validating environment invaluable for my professional and personal development.
I have been a person centred counsellor since gaining my Advanced Diploma in Counselling at Wigan College in 2001. I completed my Diploma in Casework Supervision at Person Centred Counselling Services Training, Manchester in December 2004. I have experience of counselling and supervision both within the voluntary and statutory sectors as well as in private practice. I have over 6 years’ experience of managing a counselling service and supporting students on placement.
Being a student on a counselling diploma/degree course presents many challenges and there are a lot of different aspects to juggle alongside your learning, supervision being one of these aspects.
Your supervision is an integral part of your learning. Within supervision I endeavour to provide an environment which facilitates this learning process. I work hard to encourage students in developing their own internal process of reflection on their client work and assist in linking theory to practice.
I have offered supervision to many students from various colleges and universities. I am familiar with the different procedures and requirements.
